Feel welcome as you join us at our two Guesthouses, starting in Stellenbosch and The Winelands for 5 days and after that, move on to Somerset West for 5 days. We really recommend that you rent a car, either for the whole trip, or once you leave Stellenbosch. In Stellenbosch, almost everything is within walking distance, but in Somerset West there are lots of hills and it is easier with a rental car. But if you don´t want to drive yourself – local transport can be arranged. If you need help, let us know.

Your time in Stellenbosch and Somerset West as our guest is limited. Maybe you just want a short break in South Africa, or you would prefer going to other areas on your own. But you would still prefer to make a short stop with us. Feel welcome to join us at our 2 guesthouses, starting in Stellenbosch and The Winelands for 3 days. Following this, embark on a self-drive tour, and then in the end, come back to us at The Beautiful West Guesthouse before you travel back to your home country.You need a car for your trip, following on from the 3 days stay in Stellenbosch until you leave. A rental car is not included but we can help to arrange it.

Feel welcome as you join us at our two guesthouses, starting in Stellenbosch and The Winelands for 5 days. After that, move on for a self-drive tour for 5 days. We try to add something extra to your tour and we will book you into special and unique guesthouses in Montagu, Oudtshoorn, Knysna, Cape Agulhas and Hermanus.
After the self drive tour, you will come back to us, but this time at Somerset West and The Beautiful West Guesthouse for 5 days. Here you can relax by the pool and drive down to local beaches as well as enjoy trips to Cape Town and Cape of Good Hope on your own.
You need a car for at least the last 10 days of the trip, from Stellenbosch until you leave.
A rental car is not included but we can arrange it for you.

D. Nature Stop SA 15 days luxury – new! Price from ZAR 12 600*/person in double room

Every year we try to find some new and different places, restaurants and winefarms. This year we have focused on Nature Reserves and Game Reserves, two things that South Africa is really famous for.
Nature Stop is something different and very special for us and we think it will be the same for you!

Feel welcome as you first join us at The Beautiful South Guesthouse in Stellenbosch. You stay with us for 5 nights and we will personally take you out to experience some new and different winefarms in the region.
We can provide you with suggestions on areas to visit yourself, especially those that offer something new, as well as those with stunning views and personalised service. After the first 5 days you go on to visit our newly-discovered, favorite Private Game Reserve for 1 night all inclusive.

After that, you will travel gravel roads to a very special privately-owned Nature Reserve for 1 night, all inclusive. You will travel on very special roads through some of the most beautiful passes in South Africa and stay at small personal, handpicked guesthouses with warm hospitality.
The last night, you are going to be on a working farm with ostriches, sheep and cattle.
You will get to know a bit of the “real” life of South Africa when you do this special Nature Stop Tour.
After the self drive tour you will come back to us, but this time to Somerset West and The Beautiful West Guesthouse for 5 days.
Here you can relax by the pool, drive down to beaches and do some hiking at Helderberg area or Cape Town.

We recommend that guests have a rental car while in S.A.. It is quite easy to drive in and around South Africa and you will have more flexibility with your own rental car. You can rent it on your own and we will aid you in any way necessary. You can make your online booking on our website under “Contacts/booking”. Wine Tour

Do you like wine? Then you are at the right place!
You can go on your own or with a tour guide. There are plenty of wineries to choose from. There are older, established estates as well as modern, upcoming ones. We recommend that you visit a combination of both. The possibilities are endless. We offer full day wine tours with visit to 3-5 wine farms, tastings, cellar tour and sometimes lunch (depending on tour availability)If you prefer to go on      your own, ask us at the Guesthouse we would support and guide you with our favourites and help you to find your “special” winefarms.

Township Tour

We strongly recommend you to take 2-3 hours of your stay to see this part of South Africa. This is guaranteed to be a very emotional experience! Join a small group to take a personalized trip. No show, no masses, just individual groups.
Visit Kayamandi outside Stellenbosch (ca 20 minutes from Somerset West). Meet your guide Mr. Madiba, visit the Luthando Kinder Garden or why not get a haircut?!
You are also welcome to leave old clothes or food with us for the distribution to projects in the township. The Guesthouse is also involved in different developing projects. Ask for more details.

Safari Tours

Coming to South Africa, often our guests want to go out to the bush and see the wild animals. Unfortunately Western Cape is not a natural habitat for these wild animals. If you want to go on a “real wild” safari we recommend the North Eastern and Eastern part of the country.
What we can offer in our area, is what we call a “light-safari”. The good thing is that you often see lots of different animals, but some of them are behind fences as they can´t be out due to lack of natural food, especially when it comes to cats such as lions and cheetahs.
But in our surrounding areas you can still go on daily safaris. Daily Safaris are often combined with breakfast, a morning game drive with nature guide (ranger) and lunch.We can also recommend stay-over safaris. Often it includes arriving on time for a lunch at the Private Game Reserve and the Lodge, afternoon tea, an afternoon game drive with a ranger for 2-3h, dinner, B & B and morning game drive with ranger for 2-3h.
To find the best alternatives, ask us and we will guide you to your safari. Nature and animals are a big interest for us.

Activities in the region

Golf

Welcome to a golfer's paradise! Enjoy the beautiful countryside on about 15 courses nearby. Use the excellent value for money and combine golf with many amenities and activities close by. We can to help you with all organizational issues to realize your wishes.
What can we say? With 15 wonderful courses within in less than an hour’s drive away and 3 courses in the vicinity of Somerset West alone.
Or take some lessons - beginner or low handicap. Anna, Pro at Devon Vale Golf Estate, will help all of you. Good Luck!

Nature Reserves & hiking

There are lots of hiking areas close to or in the Winelands - Helderberg Nature Reserve, Jonkershoek & J.S. Marais Nature Reserves, Devon Valley...You can walk for an hour or you can walk for days. Or you can just relax in one of our Nature Reserves in South Africa.
You can do it the simple way or you can do it in style. We have lots of very nice luxury Lodges at Nature Reserves to stay over at.
We also have some of these included in our special packages. We love to mix Private Game Reserves and Private Nature Reserves – once in a lifetime experiences!

Horse Riding

What better way to explore the vineyards and surroundings than on horseback. With these well-trained horses you can either go fast or take it easy. It’s up to you! Why not a riding wine tasting in the vineyards?

Mountain bike

Skip the horses and jump up for a bike ride in the city of Stellenbosch or in the Winelands or up in a Nature Reserve. From Stellenbosch you rent a bike from the Guesthouse – just let us know when you would like to start your adventure.

Quad bike tours

This is for the fast thinking and active people and if it is very dry or raining – get dirty and have fun in the mountains or by the winefarms!

Whale watching
The possibility to see whales is best from June to November. We have some of the best whale watching areas within an hour’s drive from either guest house!

Shark cage divingA challenge for some people to get direct contact with a shark!

Hunting, trout fishing and fly fishing
