From Cape Town or Cape Town International Airport, take the N2 Highway in the direction of Stellenbosch/Somerset West.

Continue on the N2 until EXIT 43, the sign says R44, Stellenbosch and Broadway Blvd. Take into consideration that most street names are down on the curbs!

Turn left towards Stellenbosch and R44; continue on R44 up to the first traffic light (Main Road) where you turn right towards Somerset West.

Continue up to the next traffic light, (Helderberg College Road) and turn left. Continue up the hill and pass a 4-way stop. Approx 300 meters after the 4-way stop you will have number 136 Helderberg College Road on your right hand side. The sign will say "Somerset West Guesthouse".

From Stellenbosch
- From Stellenbosch you drive south on R44 towards Somerset West and Strand.

Approx 14 km from Stellenbosch you will reach Somerset West. And right after you pass the 80 km/h sign you turn left into “The Old Stellenbosch Road”. The sign also reads “Helderberg Estate”. Take into consideration that most street signs are down on the curbs!

Drive on up to a small circle and drive right through it until you reach a 4-way stop.

Area Information
Half an hour’s drive from bustling Cape Town, historical Somerset West is located in a superb mountain environment at the foot of the Helderberg. Overlooking majestic False Bay, this visually stunning town gives access to Sir Lowry’s Pass, which crosses the Hottentots Holland mountains into the Overberg and then onto the abundant Garden Route.
     
The town has a colourful history after Lord Charles Somerset in 1820. As recently as 1970, its population was no more than 20,000 but it has since expanded greatly to become a highly desirable national and international holiday and retirement destination.

The renowned warm water beaches of Strand and Gordon's Bay are within a few minutes driving distance and Somerset West is the ideal starting point for many daytrips into Cape Town and surrounds including Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Hermanus. The town is situated in the heart of the famous Cape Winelands.

Somerset West now has the amenities of a premier holiday resort and a large shopping mall with over sixty outlets has all the necessary conveniences.

Lying between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, Somerset West and Cape Town enjoys mild winters and pleasant summers. Summer temperatures in December to February range from around 15 to 27 degrees Celsius (60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit), while in the winter months of June to August average temperatures are between 7 to 20 degrees Celsius (45 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit). Rainfall is predominately found during the winter months with occasional accompanying windy spells, while refreshing sea breezes allow diversion from the summer heat.
